Everton vs Liverpool

The Merseyside derby is upon us, today at 12:45BST at Goodison Park Everton will take on Liverpool. This will be the 204th Merseyside derby and we all expect it to be a cracker. Last season Liverpool beat Everton 3-1 in the corresponding fixture. Everton will be upbeat after their 2-0 victory over the Spurs. They were down to ten men, but still managed to get a great result out of the game.

Peter Crouch could be rested and might sit on the bench after his exploits in the Euro qualifiers but would almost certainly come on as a substitute. So Liverpool would start with their new combination of Kuyt and Bellamy. Jamie Carragher will still be out of the starting line-up in all probabilities still nursing his injury. McFadden is out injured while he was on Internation Duty with Scotland. Alan Stubbs also misses out with a Knee injury which could keep him out for about 2 weeks. James Beatie will be starting the match teaming up with Andrew Johnson who had a good international week too with Engalnd.

Everton are above Liverpool at this time, but the derby result could change everything. They are 3points in front and 4th in the league at the moment above Chelsea too. Liverpool look favourites to win this but with Peter Crouch not starting they may find it hard to score against the tight Everton defense. I am although going with a surprise bet on this on, Everton to win it coming off their brave performance versus a strong Spurs squad. The odds on Everton to win it are at 3.75. With the likes of Dirk Kuyt, Johnson, Beattie, Bellamy upfront for the two teams with plenty of attacking options for both the teams i expect goals from the match. So a 2.37 bet on ‘Over 2.5 goals’ could be decent shout too. For me it is a 2-1 for Everton at home with Andrew Johnson to score the winner.
