Its the clash of the two London clubs. The rivalry is not fierce as the Arsenal-Tottenham rivalry, but sparks are bound to fly when a sluggish West Ham team host the misfiring Gunners at Upton Park.
West Ham are the only Premiership club without a clean sheet, a slightly surprising record for a back for which boasts of young talents like Anton Ferdinand and Danny Gabbidon. West Ham temporarily got their act back on track when they brushed aside a strong Blackburn challenge to secure their first points after a string of five consecutive losses in top flight (They were also knocked out of the League Cup by Chesterfield). Argentine star Carlos Tevez raised a few eyebrows, when he signed for the Londoners, but his performance has been far from exceptional. After being sidelined by a knee injury, he returns to the fold agianst Arsenal. In all probability, he will start on the bench as Pardew wont disturb the combination of Sheringham and Zamora up-front.
Arsenal completely dominated CSKA Moscow in midweek, but couldnt convert their domination into goals. And a draw has put their Champions League aspirations in jeopardy. In the Premiership though, Arsenal are the “in-form” team, with fabulous attacking displays against Wigan and Everton before this game. Striker Emanuel Adebayor returns to the squad after injury. But Julio Baptista, Freddie Ljungberg, Emmanuel Eboue, Lauren and Abou Diaby are surely out of the game. Theo Walcott has been mighty impressive in the games so far, and he might get a start this weekend.
My Pick: This is a very tough game to choose. Much as I would like to keep my money in my pocket, I will bank on Arsenal to nick this one. I still dont bank on the Gunners to win convincingly but their quality will shine through and they will win 1-0 courtesy a Robin Van Persie special !
