Manchester United vs Charlton preview

Beleaguered Charlton Athletic will hope for a miracle when they travel to Old Trafford to meet league leaders Manchester United on Saturday.

Charlton have been in woeful form this season, but they have improved since Alan Pardew took charge.  They will play fellow strugglers West Ham and Watford after this, and some points at the Theatre of Dreams will do them a lot of good. Talal El Karkouri is suspended for this game. Majid Bougherra, their 2.5 million pound signing in January, is expected to make his debut in this game. So is Cameroonian teenager  Alexandre Song. Luke Young, Herman Hreidarsson and Andy Reid are out and top scorer Darren Bent is not expected to play.

Manchester United are on a roll, and are playing some brilliant football. They statistically have the best attack in the league and their opponents have the worst defensive record in the league. Goalkeeper Edwin Van Der Sar is unavailable after breaking his nose in a clash with Robbie Keane in the game against Tottenham Hotspur. Polish goalie Tomas Kuzscsak will don the gloves in his place. While Wayne Rooney is fit despite missing the game against Spain in midweek, United will have to do without the services of John O Shea. Ronaldo might start on the bench because he isn’t 100 %. The same goes for Carrick, and so Fletcher and Park might get a look in.

Charlton lost 1-0 to Chelsea last time around, and they missed some sitters in that game. They can’t afford to miss chances like that against United. I don’t see United losing this one and I don’t see them letting one in. 1-0 or 3-0 is my prediction for this one. Giggs, Rooney and Ronaldo or Scholes on the scoresheet.

  • This is a game where everyone expect The Red Devils to win by a big margin, it could be true but their showing against Chelsea last week where they lost narrowly by 1 goal shows otherwise.

I’ll be damned if Rooney and co. can’t increase their lead and goal margin after tonight’s game!

  • A lucky win for United, they didn’t look comfortable throughout the game and had to rely on players like Park Ji-Sung and Darren Fletcher to get the goals!
