Will we see another upset in the making after last night’s Champions League Quarter Finals matches? Who would have thought Lyon, Barcelona and Inter Milan would bow out so early in the Holy Grail of club football? Everyone thought this is Lyon’s year with their imperious form beginning of the season, but they were undone by the magnificent World Cup winner Totti and creative Brazilian Mancini of Roma.
Lille, paying a visit to Old Trafford, still smarting from their one nil defeat at home, one which they conceded at the last few minutes by Ryan Gigg’s quickly taken free kick. We all know about their attempt to rule out the goal but was turned down by UEFA, twice! Expect this encounter to be a fiery one, Sir Alex Ferguson reminded his players to mind their own business and just let football do the talking. Missing from tonight’s encounter will be Louis Saha and Patrice Evra, their replacement lacks no quality mind you, the legend Henrik Larsson and steadfast Gabriel Heinze, if we’re lucky we might even see Alan Smith making an appearance tonight.
I’m going for Under 2.5 at 1.77, Rooney and Ronaldo have not scored in Europe for quite a while and I don’t expect that to change. Man Utd will be playing cautiously and not let Lille steal advantage on the away goal. I however don’t see how Lille can penetrate Man Utd’s defence with rock solid Rio Ferdinand and Vidic marshalling infront of Van Der Sar.
