Form guide – Real Madrid (most recently played game on top)

v. Villareal (Win) 2-0 (C. Ronaldo, Kaka)
v. Xerez (Win) 5-0 (C. Ronaldo*2, Guti, Benezema, Nistelrooy)
v. FC Zurich (Win) 5-2 (C. Ronaldo*2, Raul, Higuain, Guti)
Real Madrid have been in scintillating form, decimating every opponent in sight. They currently lead la Liga and have not conceded a goal in their last three games. Certainly, it would take a brave man to bet against them in current form.
Real Madrid have a full strength squad to choose from and should feel really confident going into this game.
Form guide – Marseille (most recently played game on top)
v. Valenciennes (Loss) 1-3 (Morientes, Niang)
v. Montpellier (Win) 4-2 (Gonzales, Niang, Diawara, E.Cisse)
v. Milan (Loss) 1-2 (Heinze)
v. Le Mans(Win) 2-1 (Niang, Brandao)
Marseille have played fairly well this season but have no points to show for their efforts. They dictated proceedings against Milan but ended up on the losing side. Niang has also scored five times this season and looks potent in front of goal. Fernando Morientes will be eager to face his former employers. The addition of Lucho Gonzales in midfield has added strength to the playing eleven.
The two sides met twice in 2003 in the Champions League. The same fixture saw Madrid triumph 4-2, with goals from Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo, and Luis Figo. The reverse fixture also ended in a Madrid win, with a 2-1 scoreline.
Match Verdict:- History also seems to be favouring the Madrid giants. Although Marseille would be no pushovers, Real should be winning this tie, especially at home.
Real Madrid 3-1 Marseille (Benezema, Kaka, Ronaldo // Niang)
Match verdict:- APOEL 0-1 Chelsea (Lampard)
