MLB: ALCS and NLCS is Now Set

Just like that, we now have just 4 teams standing in Major League Baseball. The Anaheim Angels will take on the New York Yankees in the ALCS and the Los Angeles Dodgers will take on the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLCS. And every team will go into the next round fairly well rested.

Now, I had each of these teams advancing to this round of the playoffs. But I didn’t think both ALDS series would be sweeps and I didn’t think the Dodgers would be able to sweep the Cards. The Phillies winning in 4 was right about what I thought.

But only the Phillies didn’t sweep and they may have had the easiest match-up of all the teams that reached the playoffs. But all 4 of these teams were really solid all year and these are the teams that deserve to be alive.

So, the NLCS will begin on Thursday and the ALCS will start on Friday. Both of these series should be great. But before we look ahead, let’s take a quick look back.

I’m not shocked at all that the Red Sox lost to the Angels. I know most east coast mediots thought we were looking at a Red Sox and Yankees ALCS, but I found it very difficult to believe that the Red Sox would advance. And it has nothing to do with the Red Sox either. They were a good team this year but the Angels are a great team. But I didn’t think the Sox would get swept.

Meanwhile, in the National League I was shocked to see how easily the Dodgers dispatched the Cardinals. I thought the Cardinals were a lot better than that. Or is it that the Dodgers are just that good?

Well, we’ll soon find out. The NLCS will begin on Thursday night and the ALCS will start on Friday night. Expect both of these series to be long and grueling.
