Angola finished as winners of Group A, drawing with Mali and Algeria and beating Malawi. They scored four times against Mali and twice against Malawi but did not score against Algeria. Coach Manuel Jose started off with a 5-4-1 against Algeria, but is likely to revert back to his 5-3-2 formation that he employed against both Mali and Malawi. Against Algeria, Manucho was employed as a sole striker, but he should be joined by the in form Flavio upfront against Ghana. As you can see from the form statistics below, Flavio and Manucho together are the main sources for Angola’s goals.

v Algeria ( 0-0)
v Malawi ( 2-0) Flavio, Manucho
v Mali (Draw 4-4) Flavio*2,Manucho,Gilberto
v Gambia (Draw 1-1) Manucho
v. Estonia (Loss 0-1)

Ghana lost their opening game against Ivory Coast but recovered to beat Burkina Faso in a virtual quarterfinal. Andre Ayew scored the only goal of the game against Burkina.

Ghana will be without injured midfielder and skipper Michael Essien, who has returned to England. However Mirovan Rajevac has been handed a boost as Rosenborg midfielder Anthony Annan has declared himself fit. Rajevac started with a 4-2-3-1 against Ivory Coast but switched to a 4-4-2 against Burkina Faso with Gyan Asamoah partnering Matthew Amoah upfront.

v Burkina Faso ( Win 1-0) Andre Ayew
v. Ivory Coast (Loss 1-3) Asamoah
v. Malawi (Draw 0-0)
v. Angola (Draw 0-0)
v. Mali (Draw 2-2) Amoah, Annan

Ghana look young and inexperienced as they are missing key players. This is a golden chance for Angola to reach the last four of the continent’s premier tournament by beating one of Africa’s heavweights. The two teams met a few months ago in an international friendly which ended in a 0-0 draw.

Verdict:- Angola 1-0 Ghana ( Flavio)
