Diego Maradona’s Argentina would be hoping to make it to their first World Cup semi-final in twenty years when they take to the field on Saturday. But trying to undermine their progress is Joachim Low’s young German outfit who have impressed one and all with their passing and movement. Will Europe triumph over South America ? Read our preview and then head over to Bodog to check the odds on a German win.

Argentina – last five games- most recent first
Argentina 3-1 Mexico (Tevez*2, Higuain)
Argentina 2-0 Greece (Demichelis,Palermo)
Argentina 4-1 South Korea (Higuain*3,OG)
Argentina 1-0 Nigeria (Heinze)

Diego Maradona’s side has won all four of it’s games in the tournament so far and have looked solid and assured in each of them. Maradona is expected to go in with the same side that did the job against Mexico. Burdisso and Demichelis will play at the heart of defence. Otamendi and Heinze will play as wing-backs. Mascherano will take his place as the holding midfielder leaving the likes of Di Maria, Maxi Rodrigues, Messi, Tevez and Higuain to play freely in the attacking third. Juan Sebastien Veron could play a vital role coming off the bench.

Germany – last few games – most recent game on top
Germany 4-1 England (Klose, Podolski, Muller*2)
Germany 1-0 Ghana (Ozil)
Germany 0-1 Serbia
Germany 4-0 Australia ( Lukas Podolski, Miroslav Klose, Thomas Muller, Cacau)

The Germans were clinical against England and murdered them on the break. The pace and guile of Schweinsteiger, Khedira, Podolski, Muller and Ozil could pose a lot of problems to the Argentinians. Miroslav Klose has a knack of scoring all the important goals at major interntaional tournaments. He will lead the line up front. Friedrich, Lahm, Mertasacker and Boateng will line up ahead of Neuer in goal.

Verdict: Argentina 1-2 Germany (Messi / Klose, Muller)
