Manchester City vs Birmingham City – betting preview

Game:- Manchester City vs Birmingham City
Competition :- Barclays Premier League
Venue :- City of Manchester Stadium
Date :- Saturday, 13 November 2010
KO time:- 15:00 BST

Roberto Mancini’s side was criticized for a “boring” performance in the Manchester derby. But the Blues are expected to be firing on all cylinders when they host Birmingham City on Saturday. Skipper Kolo Toure has called the tie a “must-win” encounter and the bookies also seem to favour Manchester City for this one. Bet on the game with our recommended bookmakers – Bet365 and PinnacleSports

Manchester City – last few games – most recent on top
v. Manchester United (Draw 0-0)
v. West Brom (Win 2-0) Balotelli*2
v. Lech Poznan(Loss 1-3) Adebayor
v. Wolves(Loss 1-2) Adebayor
v. Arsenal (Loss 0-3)

City started with a slightly defensive lineup against the Red Devils with Johnson, Adebayor, Kolarov and Richards all being left on the bench. Adam Johnson may get a look in from the start in place of James Milner. Mancini could also ask Tevez to play a bit deeper in place of Yaya Toure and put Adebayor up top. It would be interesting to see if Kolaraov and Richards, the more attacking full-backs, get the nod ahead of Boateng and Zabaleta. Mario Balotelli will be the notable absentee for this one – he has a three game suspension for his red card against West Brom.

Birmingham City – last few games – most recent game on top
v. Stoke (Loss 2-3) Fahey, Jerome
v. West Ham (Draw 2-2) Ridgewell, Jerome
v. Aston Villa (Draw 0-0)

Birmingham have not won at City since 1998 and were thrashed 5-1 the last time they played City at CoMs. They are not in the greatest of form, but one can never rule out a spirited fight. They have a lot of height in attack with Zigic and Jerome. Both strikers will pose considerable aerial threat from Larsson and Hleb’s delivery. Alex McLeish is without the services of James McFadden and Maik Taylor.

Match Verdict: Manchester City 2-1 Birmingham City(Adebayor, Tevez / Zigic)
