Iran have already qualified for the quarterfinals as winners of the Group. Regardless of what happens in the fixture against UAE, the Gulf Nation will enter the last eight as winners of Group C.

But given that quarterfinal will be against either Australia or South Korea, both of whom are strong teams and title contenders, Iran coach Afshin Ghotbi might feel tempted to go in with his regular members instead of opting for a second string lineup that might break his side’s winning run.

For this to happen the UAE will have to break Iran’s unbeaten record in this tournament, and beat the Persian Stars by a higher margin that North Korea’s win over Iraq. North Korea winning against Iraq is also a necessity for UAE to qualify as if both end up level on points, Iraq will go through courtesy of their group stage victory over UAE.
