Tottenham’s aspirations of European football next season in the Champions League have taken a beating with some poor results in the league in recent times. This, along with Manchester City’s relatively stable form, has seen the Citizens move ahead of Spurs in the race for fourth place.

Tottenham drew 2-2 with West Bromwich Albion last weekend, with a delightful Simon Cox goal allowing the Baggies to snatch a late point against Harry Redknapp’s side. Results like the one against West Brom are precisely the ones Spurs want to avoid- they have done well against the big sides in the league, but have not been able to display the ruthlessness needed to dispatch smaller sides at will.

Chelsea on the other hand, now look the only opposition to Manchester United in the title race. With United squaring off against Arsenal on Sunday, Chelsea can put some early pressure on both teams with a win at the Bridge this weekend.

Fernando Torres netted his first goal in Chelsea colours last weekend as they beat West Ham United 3-0 at home. Ancelotti will be hoping that Torres, after breaking his goal duck, will be able to score more frequently and display the knack for goals that he did at Liverpool prior to his switch. However the victory came at a cost as Michael Essien injured himself, but the Ghanian may still be able to stage a late recovery and play some part in this game.

Verdict:- Massive London derby this one- a fixture that both teams need to win.

Chelsea 2-2 Tottenham ( Drogba, Lampard/ Van der Vaart, Pavluychenko)
