Peru will look to continue punching above their weight when they meet Uruguay in the first semifinal of Copa America 2011. Bet on Peru vs Uruguay at Bodog after reading our betting preview at sportsbookie.com.

Peru stunned Group A winners Colombia in the quarterfinals. Extra time goals from Carlos Lobaton and Juan Vargas sent La Blanquirroja into their first Copa semifinal since 1997 and with the exits of Argentina, Chile and Brazil from the competition, Peru will be dreaming of a first continental triumph since 1975.

Giancarlo Carmona will return to the squad after missing the quarterfinal against Colombia through suspension. Defender Santiago Acasiete has also recovered from the muscle problems that made him miss the QF encounter against the Colombians.

Uruguay dumped hosts Argentina out of the tournament in the quarterfinals. Some brilliant goalkeeping from Fernando Muslera and some poor finishing from the Argentine forwards aided Uruguay in keeping the scores at 1-1 after Diego Perez was sent off in the 38th minute.

The match went to penalties, where Uruguay got all five of their spot kicks on target to beat the Albicelestes.

Perez, who scored the opening goal of the quarterfinal against Argentina, is therefore suspended for this semifinal clash against the Peruvians.

Uruguay 1-0 Mexico ( Alvaro Pereira)
Uruguay 1-1 Chile ( Alvaro Pereira)
