The plucky Venezuelans were beaten on penalties by Paraguay in the semifinals. Cesar Farias’ side clearly had the better of chances during the game- Vizcarrondo had a goal disallowed for offside and they also hit the woodwork on three separate occasions. Paraguay also had a player sent off but managed to take the game to penalties, where Franklin Lucena’s missed spot kick proved vital as Venezuela lost 5-3.
Tomas Rincon, who missed the semifinal due to suspension, is likely to return in place of Giácomo Di Giorgi, who deputised for him against the Paraguayans.
