The Gunners could only muster a tame draw against Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday evening. Gervinho was sent off on his debut but the Ivorian will be available to make his Champions League debut for the Gunners against the Italian club. However the same cannot be said of both Robin Van Persie and Samir Nasri, who are suspended. Arsenal will be also without club captain Cesc Fabregas, who has just completed his long expected transfer to Barcelona.

With Jack Wilshere’s ankle injury keeping him out and Tomas Rosicky facing a late fitness test for his groin problem, the Gunners look a bit short in the midfield department.

Arsenal form- last five games- most recent first- Arsenal scorers in brackets

Newcastle 0-0 Arsenal
Benfica 2-1 Arsenal ( Van Persie)
Arsenal 1-1 Red Bulls ( Van Persie)
Arsenal 2-2 Boca ( Van Persie, Ramsey)
Koln 1-2 Arsenal ( Gervinho*2)

Last used lineup:- Szczesny, Sagna, Vermaelen, Gibbs, Koscielny, Song, Ramsey, Rosicky, Arshavin, Van Persie, Gervinho

Udinese, like Arsenal FC, also lost a key player to Barcelona in the summer. Alexis Sanchez has departed the Friulian outfit but they can still count on Antonio di Natale to deliver the goods. Udinese are a little short on match practice as the Italian league is yet to begin, while Arsenal have been playing in several competitive fixtures prior to this encounter.

Udinese are bidding to reach the Champions League group stages for the first time since 2005. Arsenal of course are regulars in this competition and are bidding to reach the group stages for the fourteenth consecutive season.

Verdict:- Arsenal 2-1 Udinese ( Walcott, Ramsey/ Di Natale)
