Udinese vs Arsenal

Champions League Second Leg- 24th August, 2011- 19.45 UK

Arsenal take a slim 1-0 advantage from the first leg to Italy as they attempt to book their place in the group stages of the Champions League. Bet on Udinese vs Arsenal with our recommended bookmakers after reading our preview at sportsbookie.com.

Arsenal won the first leg 1-0 in London, with Aaron Ramsey setting up Theo Walcott for an early opener. The Gunners however tasted defeat in their weekend game against Liverpool. Emmanuel Frimpong’s rash challenge saw the Gunners reduced to ten men for the second league game running and Liverpool made the most of their one man advantage to finish the game off.

Samir Nasri and Robin Van Persie were both suspended for the first leg but are eligible to play the return tie in Italy. Nasri will however not play as featuring against Udinese will make him cup tied and reduce the chances of a transfer to Manchester City. He has been left out of the squad that will make the trip down south to Udinese.

Alex Song and Gervinho, who did not feature against Liverpool due to their bans, can play against Udinese. However Laurent Koscielny limped off against Liverpool and his back injury will prevent him from travelling to Italy. Jack Wilshere is also a doubt but Johan Djorou is expected to recover from the injury he picked up in last week’s first leg.

Arsenal form- last five games- most recent first- Arsenal scorers in brackets

Arsenal 0-2 Liverpool
Arsenal 1-0 Udinese ( Walcott)
Newcastle 0-0 Arsenal
Benfica 2-1 Arsenal ( Van Persie)
Arsenal 1-1 Red Bulls ( Van Persie)

Udinese have the players to trouble Arsenal and should they score early to cancel out Arsenal’s advantage from the first leg, it could end up getting tough for the Gunners. The Friulians won eleven and drew four of their nineteen home games during the 2010/11 Serie A season.

Verdict:- Udinese 2-1 Arsenal ( Isla, Di Natale/ Van Persie) ( Arsenal to win on away goals)
