Those that bet on NFL will tell you that 2012 saw a draft class that was without doubt a very deep group in terms of skill, talent and precocity.
And if this set of young players can live up to their full potential then the class has the ability to shape the landscape of the league in future years.
Some of the rookies have been making an immediate impact at organised team activities (OTAs) and look to be capable of shaping plans in the future.
It’s hard to cover all of them here but here are four that we think are among the best and who have a chance of making a big impression in the coming season.
The Jets look to have bagged a gem in Stephen Hill. The second-round pick looks to be one of the most naturally gifted in his position with excellent size and speed.
He has plenty of upside in the Big Apple and we expect him to make an immediate impact and serve as a dangerous deep threat for the Jets.
Protecting the quarterback is one of the most important functions in the NFL and Kelechi Osemele should improve the Ravens offensive line immediately.
Osemele was a second-round pick from Iowa State and he should thrive in a locker room that is full of seasoned veterans. We expect to see him start in his first season.
Pressure is another important commodity and Nick Perry is one of the most explosive pass-rushers of this year’s draft class.
The dynamic USC product has outstanding quickness and a knack for getting to the quarterback. Perry is also strong in run defence and has a nose for the football. Green Bay’s first-round pick will certainly upgrade their defence.
Our final pick is Robert Turbin and his addition to the Seattle squad could give the Seahawks a very dangerous rushing offence indeed.
The Utah State product has outstanding power, and he also possesses surprising agility. Add him to Marshawn Lynch and Leon Washington and the Seattle run game looks to be in very good fettle.
We are sure that Turbin will make a big impact in his first year in Seattle, and help his side defy NFL bets and selections.
